Martine Pisani was born in Marseille and lives in Paris. She embarked on dance at 22 years by making at once her debut of interpreter with the DUNES group, which she met in Marseille. Meanwhile she attended many workshops with Odile Duboc and American choreographers like David Gordon or Yvonne Rainer. These encounters allowed her to cultivate a dance not virtuoso, dree from any formalism. Her choreographic process is strongly nourished by the works of Robert Bresson, Guy Debord, Stéphane Mallarmé, Laurence Weiner, Robert Filliou, to only quote the most noticeable. She starts her own company, La compagnie du solitaire in 1992 and creates the pieces : Fragments tirés du sommeil, trio, U-Nighted, duo in collaboration with Marco Berrettini and Caty Olive, Le grand combat, solo, based on a text by Frédéric Valabrègue, Là où nous sommes, trio, Le son des choses, a sound performance based on Dracula by Bram Stoker in collaboration with Antoine Lenfo and Manuel Coursin, L’air d’aller, trio, Sans, trio, Ce que je regarde me regarde, duo, Slow down, sextuor, Bande à part, sextuor, Contre Bande, solo, with a chorus of amateurs, O please tell me, solo for Lorenzo de Brabandere, commissioned by Vif du Sujet/SACD, Group performance for 17 students of the Groupe de Recherche chorégraphique de Poitiers, Hors sujet ou le bel ici, trio. As part of RUNNING TIMES (2007-2010), she makes : Road Along Untitled Moments (R.A.U.M.), solo performance 2007 at Xing/Bologna, Blink, performance (2008) for 7 dancers, commissioned by Zagreb Dance Company in Zagreb, one shared object Profit and Loss, sextuor in collaboration with Martin Nachbar in Postdam, Hold the line ne quittez pas, performance in situ at La Galerie Centre d’art contemporaine in Noisy Le Sec, one-more-ti-me, performance created for 8 students at Teatro Maria Matos in Lisbon, as far as the eye can hear, open air trio at Jardin Fernado pessoa in Lisbon. As part of GENERAL RELATIVITY (2011-2014), she creates Cosmos blues, solo at Uzès danse Festival and Rien n’est établi, quintet at DañsFabrik Festival in Brest. In parallel she makes Maison et Travaux, performance at Moments artistiques Paris and Jardin et Travaux, performance at the Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille and at Iselp / Bruxelles. She produces, in collaboration with Oscar Loeser, as far as the eye can hear, le film from some excerpts of as far as the eye can hear, trio and Grandeur nature, a live installation created in Marseille in June 2015.
And she creates UNDATED in 2017, a piece for eleven performers who have all collaborated with her company.
